January 7:Jinjitsu (Human’s day)→”Otoso (New Year’s spiced sake)”
The seventh day of January is Jinjitsu (Human’s day). It is also referred to as nanakusa (seven kinds of vegetables) no sekku because people eat 7-herb rice porridge on the day.
Japanese sake to drink on this day is “Otoso (New Year’s spiced sake)”.

March 3:The Dolls’ Festival (じょうし)→「Peach Sake」
The 3rd day of March is Joshi (The Dolls’ Festival).
Japanese sake to drink on this day is “Momozake (Peach sake)”.

May 5: Tango no Sekku (Boy’s day)→「Iris Sake」
The 5th day of May is Tango (Boy’s day). Because iris is used to drive away evil spirits during the Boys’ Festival, it’s also called ‘Iris Festival.’
Japanese sake to drink on this day is “Shobuzake (Iris sake)”.

July 7:Shichiseki/Tanabata (the star festival)→「Sweet Sake」
The 7th day of July is Tanabata (the star festival),  it’s also called ‘Festival of the bamboo grass.’
Japanese sake to drink on this day is “Amazake (Sweet mild sake)”.

September 9:Choyo(Chrysanthemum Festival)→「Chrysanthemum Sake」
The 9th day of September is Choyo,  it’s also called ‘Chrysanthemum Festival’.
Japanese sake to drink on this day is “Kikuzake (Chrysanthemum Sake)”.

三々九度(three-times-three exchange of nuptial cups
The bride and groom exchanges nuptial cups three times and drink three sips from each of the three cups of the rice wine that was placed before the kami. This is generally called “san-san-kudo 三々九度” (literally, three three nine,referring to the three sips from three cups, total of nine sips).
