“Yes, I like it very much!!”
Therefore, the third of the visit to social studies that adult can enjoy is “Gekkeikan Okura Sake Museum”.
Fushimi of Kyoto is famous for clear water and production of Japanese Sake is very prosperous from old days.
This time, I visited Japanese Sake breweries of “Gekkeikan” which is one of the biggest brewing maker in Japan.
The brand name called “Gekkeikan” is Japanese sake brand which is famous for abroad. (○´艸`)
In addition, I introduce the highlight of Fushimi city because I took a walk in Fushimi on the way to museum.

1.Guided tour details and reservation method
Gekkeikan Okura Sake Museum holds two types of tours.
1.A general visit tour(No reservation is needed.)
The visit of the exhibition room and a tasting of Japanese sake.
2.An optional visit tour(Reservation is needed.)
“General visit tour” + “Guide tour of “酒香房(Japanese Sake breweries)””
You can perform the reservation on a telephone.
Visit tour is possible to book from 3 months ago.

2.About Gekkeikan Okura Sake Museum
“Gekkeikan” is a brewing maker representing Japan of the establishment of a business in 1637, and there is the history of about 400 years.
Gekkeikan Okura Sake Museum is appointed to a modernization industry inheritance.
Open :9:30~16:30
Regular holiday:Obon(Summer holiday), Year-end and New Year holidays
The building of the museum is built in 1909, and there is the history more than 100 years.
This is a very tasteful building. (○´艸`)
You get an identification card and a souvenir (Japanese sake) with a receptionist.
There is a souvenir shop in the museum.
There are a lot of souvenirs related to Japanese sake. (○´艸`)
3.Guided tour report
This time, I participated in “Optional visit tour”. (About 30 min)
You can enter the Japanese Sake breweries which cannot enter by the general visit by the optional visit. d(*゚ー゚*)
The details of the process of manufacture of Japanese sake are exhibited.
This is a sample of rice which is polished. Top-quality sake brewed from rice grains milled to 50% or less of their weight.
This is a very big training barrel. The barrelage is 6,000 liters!!!
You can observe the real work by the chief brewer, too.
There is the guidance sentence of English and Chinese, too.
The next is time for tasting!! You can tasting three kinds of Japanese sake. d(*゚ー゚*)
“吟醸酒(Quality sake brewed from the finest rice)”, “大吟醸酒(Large quality sake brewed from the finest rice)” and “Plum wine”
The pure spring water of Fushimi seems to be most suitable for production of Japanese sake.
A wooden training barrel. (The barrel of the stainless steel is used now.) Wooden barrel was dried in this way in old days.
This is a courtyard of the museum.
Tools for Japanese sake brewing is exhibited in the exhibition room of the museum.
A lot of tourists from the foreign countries came to this museum.
It might be good for you to buy “sake” for a Japanese trip souvenir. XD

There are many highlights in Fushimi as well as a manufacturing facility of Japanese sake.

If you need more drink after tasting, let’s go to this shop.
This is the cafe which redecorated the building of Gekkeikan’s old office.
You can compare the sake of various makers in this cafe. d(*゚ー゚*)
●キザクラカッパカントリー(Kizakura Kappa Country)
There is the shop which is managed by “Kizakura Co.,Ltd.”(other sake brewing maker) in the neighborhood of Gekkeikan Okura Sake Museum.
The taste of Japanese sake is different by a maker. Let’s tasting!(○´艸`)
There is a restaurant and a souvenir shop.
In Kizakura Memorial hall in the opposite side, the exhibition of “the kappa” which is the symbol of Kizakura is performed. (○´艸`)
The original picture of the character of a famous TV commercial is exhibited. (○´艸`)
●伏見十石舟(Fushimi Jukkoku-bune Boat)
Passage fare:1,000 yen(More than junior high student), 500 yen(Less than primary schoolchild)
There is a pleasure boat service in the waterway near Gekkeikan Okura Sake Museum.
You can see the sights of the waterway by a wooden ship. (about one hour)
●寺田屋(Teradaya Inn)
There is “Terada-ya” which is the hotel which is famous for a surprise attack case of Ryoma Sakamoto in Fushimi.
Admission Fee :400 yen(Adults)、300 yen(junior high student ~ university student)、200 yen(primary schoolchild)
Open :10:00~15:40

There is a nameplate of Ryoma Sakamoto. (*´・ェ・`*)
Documents & goods related to Ryoma Sakamoto is exhibited.
The sword-cut which was cut in the case of a surprise attack is left on the pillar.
(However, because this building was rebuilt after surprise attack, this sword-cut is thought to have been repaired.)
This is the room which a surprise attack case happened.
●長建寺(Choken-ji Temple)
This is a small temple on the way going to Gekkeikan Okura Sake Museum from Chushojima Station.
Admission Fee : Free
Open : 9:00~16:00
The main gate(竜宮門:Ryugu Gate) of the temple.

●御香宮神社(Gokonomiya-jinja Shrine)
This shrine is controlling the protection of the place of Fushimi. This is an object of the faith of the local person, and this shrine is not known to many tourists.
Admission Fee:Free(Stone garden:200 yen)

The front gate is appointed to important cultural property.
Momoyama Tenman-gu Shrine which is in this shrine.
There is the ruins of the Fushimi Castle which had been built here in old days.
This is the front shrine of the Shinto shrine. A richly colored sculpture is a characteristic.
The main shrine is appointed to important cultural property. In the main shrine, a richly colored sculpture is very clean as well as a front shrine.

Because this is the place that is not known to many tourists, is always the state of the charter. (○´艸`)
