Shogunzuka Seiryu-den is the detached area of the Shoren-in temple, located in Zushioku Kachocho, Yamashina-ku, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture.
In the Heian period, Emperor Kanmu constructed a clay statue of a general, and he buried it in the mound, as a guardian of the capital.
Therefore, this place is known as “Shogunzuka (Shogun Mound)“.
In the Nanboku-chō period, this place is also the place that Yoshisada NITTA who was the hero of the Southern Court and Takauji ASHIKAGA who was the hero of the Northern Court fought for.
Because a lot of maple trees and cherry trees are planted here, it is known as a new landmark of a cherry tree and autumn leaves in Kyoto.
