This temple was founded in 1052, and there is the history of about 1, 000 years.

In addition, Byodo-in Temple is appointed as the World Heritage List as part of the cultural assets of ancient capital of Kyoto.

The scenery of 鳳凰堂(Hoo-do) and the garden which are a representative building is very beautiful.

2.About Byodo-in Temple

Byōdō-in (平等院) is a Buddhist temple in the city of Uji in Kyoto Prefecture, Japan, built in late Heian period. It is jointly a temple of the Jōdo-shū (Pure Land) and Tendai-shū sects.

As well as 鳳凰堂(Hoo-do) which is representative in Byodo-in Temple, there is the highlight such as “平等院鳳翔館(Byodoin Museum Hoshokan)” which is the Japan’s first religious corporation art museum.

There are a lot of souvenir shop and cafes on the approach to this temple.

The Uji River on my way to the temple is also very beautiful.

Uji is the place noted in connection with the Tale of Genji(Author: Murasaki Shikibu).

The entrance of Byodo-in Temple.

Admission fee is 600 yen for adults.

300 yen needs the inside visit of 鳳凰堂(Hoo-do) separately.

3.The relations between Byodo-in Temple and Japanese bill and coin.

When you ask a Japanese as follows… “What is Byodo-in Temple?”
Most Japanese answer is as follows… “It is a 10 yen coin!!”

The reason is because 鳳凰堂(Hoo-do) is designed to 10 yen coin.

Two-shot of a genuine building and 10 yen coin.(○´艸`)

In addition, 鳳凰(phoenix) in the roof of 鳳凰堂(Hoo-do) was designed to ten-thousand yen bill.

Byodo-in Temple is 鳳凰堂(Hoo-do), after all.

鳳凰堂(Hoo-do) was appointed as a national treasure and Michelin green guide ★★.

The Amitabha image which is enshrined in 鳳凰堂(Hoo-do) was appointed as a national treasure and Michelin green guide ★★★.

As for the season of the fresh green and colored leaves, it is particularly beautiful.

The flower of the lotus blooms in July.

This lotus is called “平等院蓮(Byodo-in Temple lotus)”, and it is the natural scene or object which adds poetic charm to the season of the early summer of Byodo-in Temple.

Garden scenery to look at from 鳳凰堂(Hoo-do) side.

This is the important cultural property of a country built in the Kamakura era.

As for the wisteria trellis of Kannon-do, it is in full bloom about the end of April… (> <)b
